You asked, and we listened. In recent months, a number of our UV members have asked why they’ve had to make appointments. It makes no sense to wait 15 minutes for a ten minute bed that’s available now just to honor an appointment- this has been the common observation. We took a look at the situation and agreed. So, effective May 1, we will no longer require appointments for our UV services, which will now be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The exception is when the UV is included in a bundle of services done by the same person.
The second change is also the result of customer feedback. As our business has grown, there has been increasing demand for our spa services. As a convenience to our members, we have always taken appointments for these services. In recent months, these services have been busy, and we have had to book members several weeks in advance. This works fine unless someone does not show up for their appointment, which takes the service away from another member who might have wanted to use it during that time. So, effective May 1, there will be a $10 fee charged when a member misses his or her scheduled day without calling in advance to cancel. This fee has been suggested by a number of our members. While we do not like charging this fee anymore than someone likes paying it, this is a fairly common practice among spas to discourage patrons from making appointments they don’t keep, and it enables more members to use the services. Thank you for working with us on this change.
(YOU’RE GONNA LIKE THIS ONE)
Well, maybe the title’s a little misleading. Guess it should say “some” about UV because there’s so much to say.

This week, we made some other changes. The Planet Beach sign in the lobby is now gone. Also, this week, we replaced our massage chair. Many of our members loved our Cyber-Relax massage chair, but after three-and-a-half years and thousands of uses, it was time to replace the chair with a newer model.
Like its predecessor, this chair has hundreds of combinations. Unlike its predecessor, it also has movable arm rests, a very user-friendly control console, a heated light stick to apply to pressure points in the body and even a drink tray! It features plush leather and is very comfortable. It arrived yesterday, and a number of our members have already started using it.
We are so excited about the changes taking place at Planet Beach League City. We have been truly blessed in many ways. We’ve especially been blessed with wonderful members and guests, many of whom have become our friends. We are so grateful for you and are glad you are enjoying Planet Beach League City. We can have the best equipment in the world, the best employees in the world and even the most knowledgeable employees in the world, but it’s you, our members and guests, who make it all worthwhile. We love seeing each and every one of you and are grateful for the opportunity to help you look and feel your best!
Our sauna arrived on July 1, 2010. This was a service that members were slow to adapt. Nobody set appointments for it, and it was always available when people asked for it.
In the past two newsletters, I committed to writing more about our services and what we offer at Planet Beach League City. So, over the next few weeks, I’m going to focus on our services and why people enjoy them. This week, specifically, I’m going to talk a little about our Lumiere, or Photo Facial, treatment.
Many of our members use our facial service on a weekly basis. Others use it as little as once or twice a month. If you’re already a spa member, hopefully, you’ve had the chance to try our Lumiere and are enjoying the results. It not, we encourage you to give it a try! Our friendly and knowledgeable spa consultants will be glad to talk with you about the benefits and schedule you for a service.
It’s St. Patty’s Day Again! This week, it falls on Saturday. To celebrate, we’re having a drawing for one of our green products (Green, literally. Not environmentally “green”). Simply nominate someone you know for a complimentary Spa Day, and you’re in! The drawing will be held at the end of the day on Saturday, March, 17, and there’s no limit to how many people you can nominate!
If you’re already a Planet Beach League City member, you know all this, but sometimes it helps to hear all the good reasons you joined Planet Beach. If you’re not yet a member at Planet Beach, we encourage you to try it out. Our UV-only members each receive three complimentary spa treatments so they can personally enjoy the spa experience and evaluate adding those services to their membership package. Planet Beach Spa members also can nominate friends, family members and co-workers for a complimentary spa day as part of our Ambassador Referral Program. We’re quite confident that those who haven’t tried it will be glad they did.
For the past couple of months, I’ve written mostly about self actualization, setting goals and finding time to relax, but very little about Planet Beach League City itself. This week it seems appropriate to do just that.
going to stick. We’ve made a lot of changes in the past few years that have been very popular, which has brought in a lot of new people. We have especially focused on making our environment more relaxing lately. You may have noticed some little touches in the spa, like new décor and spa water. Shortly, you’ll see new paint and new flooring. We’re also committed to improving and upgrading our service mix, so you’ll see some changes there, too.
You’ve probably seen our short blurbs about the remodeling project which is beginning to take place. The process is underway, as we talk to painters and flooring contractors and begin improving our services mix. We’re excited about these changes. We’re also excited about the opportunity to improve what we offer you, our members.
Burnout…
Physical signs and symptoms of burnout include feeling tired and drained most of the time; lowered immunity, feeling sick a lot; frequent headaches, back pain, muscle aches or a change in appetite or sleep habits. Emotional signs include a sense of failure and self-doubt; feeling helpless, trapped, and defeated; detachment, feeling alone in the world; loss of motivation; an increasingly cynical and negative outlook and a decreased satisfaction and sense of accomplishment. Behavioral signs include withdrawing from responsibilities; isolating yourself; procrastinating, taking longer to get things done; using food, drugs or alcohol to cope; taking out your frustrations on others and skipping work or coming in late and leaving early.
I’m not sure what pulled me out of the quicksand. Having a few good friends helped. Some people who cared also stepped in and tried to get me back on the health bandwagon, which I eventually and reluctantly got back on. I also began to have gratitude for all the good things in my life (including a home, family and friends and a successful, thriving business) instead of always worrying about the challenges. Slowly, but surely, I began to enjoy life again, both the simple pleasures and the big victories and even the sense of satisfaction that comes from overcoming challenges that used to drive me insane. I began to realize it was OK to take time off for me and to do things on my time schedule, instead of someone else’s. I began to give myself a break, relax and let go. I started having fun again.
If you feel like you’re on the road to burnout, here are some steps to put the brakes on.
